Put this on your must read list!
I really loved all of the details in the book Out of My Mind. I liked how the disability that Melody, the main character, had was shown throughout the book, even though I would not like to have that disability. In this book, the girl has not been able to move certain parts of her body, talk, or eat on her own. Even though I really like this book, it was sad in certain parts. I was thinking about what I would do or say if I met Melody. Would I be nice and become her friend, or would I stare and not say anything, or would I be rude to her? Hopefully not the last one. In my opinion, I really liked the book and would suggest that it be read. Also suggested: Pax

The book is great. It’s about a girl named Melody Brooks who has cerebral palsy, which forces her to be in a wheelchair. Nobody knows that Melody is the smartest girl in the class. Melody has never spoken a single word in her whole life, and she is eleven years old and is in fifth grade. Through the help of some friends Melody gets a voice of her own. This book is so emotional and heartfelt, but sends the most beautiful message about not judging people based on their looks or discriminating because of disabilities. Melody is the most brilliant girl with a photographic memory. But she suffers from cerebral palsy. She cannot talk, walk, or do most things kids her age can do. When she is put in a classroom with other kids, how they treat her is unfair and horrible. Through all the struggles, Melody does get to share who she is and what she can do. This book will remind you that people are more than what meets the eye. The is truly and amazing book.
