Great book. It is set in a world where ghosts are commonplace, and kids start work at the age of eight. Children are the only people who can see the ghosts and some children can even talk to the ghosts. Lucy Carlyle is a very talented young girl who teams up with Lockwood, head of a ghost hunting business, and George, Lockwood's assistant. Circumstances bring them to realize that Lockwood Co. with cease to exist unless they take on a job so dangerous many people have died. Will they have the courage to take on the Screaming Staircase?
