The Awakening

by Kate Chopin
  • Three stars
Give it a try, if you have the time.
The Awakening follows the main character Edna's various awakenings - such as awakenings to artistic freedom, romantic freedom, individuality - defying societal norms. There were many interesting motifs to follow such as birds, flight, and clothes, and there was abundant material for literary analysis, but it didn't seem like a particularly gripping novel.
