I honestly have no idea how Maria Semple does this. She constantly blows me away! As a teen I usually have trouble reading adult novels, because I need to see some aspect of myself in the character in order to continue flipping the pages. When reading Today Will Be Different that was absolutely not the case. The humanity, and realness of the characters spoke to me while often making me cringe. Set in Seattle, I loved reading about a place that I knew well. The book unfolded in such an artistic manner, that I was willing to put up with carsickness in order to get to the end. This story left me wanting to hold my family tight, try to illustrate a graphic novel and communicate more with those around me. I highly recommend! Also suggested: Where'd You Go Bernadette
