First of all, stay away if you don't like curse words. There's lots. When Botanist plant scientist Mark Watney is about to leave Mars on a Space Mission, a large storm arrives, leaving him alone when the team mistakes him for dead. He struggles for contact with Earth, and survival. Weir somehow manages to create a goofy and hilarious character, that is also serious at the same time. During the book, the people on Earth are racing to bring him back as he slowly runs out of essentials. Overall, this is a must-read that will make you laugh at the amazing if not, slightly dark humor of this book, and worrying for the character at every turn. This book was amazing!!!! I especially liked the ending. This is a great books for both science fiction fans and non science fiction fans. It starts of a little slow and it does have some parts that were a little boring because it was just calculations, but the rest was really good. The book is about a astronaut who gets stuck on mars with only a few years rations with him and his struggle to stay alive. if you are looking for a science fiction this is the one.

I like it because the character and author don't explain everything to you. They just assume that you know what they are talking about. It is a science fiction novel. I'm not usually a big fan of science fiction but I really liked The Martian. It has humor, science, and action. It is about a man who gets left behind on Mars during a storm. His crew leaves because they think he is dead. He has to survive on Mars until the people on Earth figure out that he is alive and can get help to him. Also suggested: When the Tripods Came
