Status: Current project
Project Category: Sanitary
Project Estimated Cost: $4,220,000
Phase 2 of the Erickson Trunk Sewer Project consists of installing 970 lineal feet of 21” sewer pipe and 1500 lineal feet of 18” sewer pipe from 5th St/Erickson Ave to 10th St. The new design alternative would relocate the existing 15" trunk sewer from the creek area to improve maintenance access. The upsized line will provide additional flow capacity. Additionally 980 lineal feet of 8” sewer mainline and 610 lineal feet of 6” sewer will be installed to replace old sewer and tie in to the trunk. There is approximately 1570 lineal feet of 12” ductile iron waterline to be installed in Erickson Ave. 1360 lineal feet of 8” waterline and 600 lineal feet of 6” waterline to be installed between 9th St. and 5th St. throughout the Condos and pedestrian pathway. Pedestrian pathway from 5th St. to 10th St. will be re-paved. https://www.beavertonoregon.gov/Erickson

FY19/20 - The project was divided into 2 phases to proceed with construction of waterline as part of phase 1. This portion of project from 10th St. to 5th St. is Phase 2. Design being worked on.FY20/21 - Continue and finalize design. Bid project for construction Spring 2020. Begin Construction late Spring or Summer 2020.FY21/22 - Construction of Sanitary Sewer, Waterline, and Pathway ongoing. Anticipated completion late Spring this FY.FY22/23 - Maintenance period and project closeout.
There was urgent need to have the Taralynn Waterline replaced, thus the need to start construction sooner for Phase 1 and as a result splitting this project into 2 phases. This Phase 2 portion will proceed after Phase 1 construction is complete.Historical background: The Erickson trunk between SW Allen Blvd and SW 5th St is a 15-inch pipe constructed about 60 years ago along Erickson Creek. A portion of the pipe through the Creekside Village development was realigned in 1987. The 15-inch pipe is undersized for both existing and buildout conditions. Replacing this pipe in its current location would be difficult as it is in a heavily landscaped area adjacent to the creek with limited access and multifamily structures nearby. Pipe bursting is not feasible due to the extremely flat grade. All the computerized flow models indicate that this line is deficient in size to handle future sewer flows. CWS installed flow monitoring on the trunk sewer to verify the need for this project. Data available in the spring of 2017 showed the pipe requires additional capacity. Positive results resulted in the decision to replace the pipe with a larger size. Cardno Engineering was selected to start the design summer of 2019.
