The project will rehabilitate and replace existing sewer pipes in the Schiller & 84th neighborhood. The primary objectives are to eliminate backups caused by tree root clogs in the sewer mainline and to improve access to the structures used for maintenance. Construction may take place in multiple phases due to the scope of the project. Both open cut and trenchless construction methods are recommended.

FY23: Investigation & Design
Operations has identified the sanitary sewer system in this neighborhood as the worst condition, most difficult to access, and highest priority for rehabilitation in Beaverton. The 2019 Sewer Master Plan Update lists this area as having root issues presenting unique and complicated challenges because it is heavily vegetated with steep slopes and most of the sewer pipes are located on private property in back yards of single family, residential homes. The recurring root issues are complicated to maintain due to the private property access and steep slopes. Some of the pipes in this neighborhood have recurring backups due to tree roots and requires frequent visits from City maintenance staff
