Project Justification

The existing water main is made of cast iron pipe and was constructed in 1959. This water main has experienced numerous breaks in recent years. Corrosive native soils have contributed to a much shorter useful life of the water pipe and fittings. Water Operations staff have rated this waterline a top priority replacement project. There are currently no fire hydrant on SW Elm Ave between Oak Pl and Chestnut Ave. TVF&R has requested the installation of two new hydrants to facilitate fire protection.
