Install fiber optic connection between Lombard Ave and Griffith Dr. The intent of the project is to install an underground fiber optic communication system and related communication equipment to existing traffic signals along the project corridor.

FY18-19: Complete design. City Forces will install the conduit and junction boxes, a contractor will install the fiber, and City Forces will integrate the real time traffic flow data into the signal system.
The new communication infrastructure and equipment will provide the framework for integration into the regional traffic signal control system and allow for an integrated regional arterial management system. The communication/equipment upgrade allows the central signal server to monitor the signal operations in real time and improves traffic flow through better signal coordination thus delaying the need for additional travel lanes. This project supports the 2019 Council priority to focus on transportation technology.
