Project Description

Beyond the intersection, Dawson Wy will be built within a 60 foot right of way and include two twelve-foot travel lanes with sharrows, eight-foot parking lanes, and 6'-10' sidewalks and Westgate Dr will be built within a 60 foot right of way and include two eleven-foot travel lanes with sharrows, seven-foot parking lanes, and 6'-10' sidewalks.

Project Justification

The existing non-signalized intersection is offset by 125 feet which poses a safety concern particularly after Dawson Wy was connected to Hocken Ave to the west. In addition, the Crescent Path project (CIP 3407) will terminate at this intersection and the pedestrian crossing of Cedar Hills Blvd will benefit significantly from a signalized intersection. In addition, the left turn lanes and westbound right turn lane will improve capacity. The realignment of and signalization of this intersection is listed as Project # 25 in the TSP 2035 update. This project responds to 2016 Council Priority "Fill in Sidewalk Gaps" and Community Vision Action Plan (CVAP) #46 strategically widen roads, add signals & turn lanes and #48 install safe sidewalks and pedestrian lighting citywide.

This project supports Comprehensive Plan Goals 6.2.2 (policies b, d and e), 6.2.3 (policy c), 6.2.4 (policy f), and 6.2.5 (policy a); TSP Action Plan (Table 6-1) Project #24; and Creekside Master Plan Implementation Strategy (Chapter 5, Figure 23) #A.5.
