Parachutes
by Kelly Yang
Read this book right now & tell all your friends!
Parachutes by Kelly Yang is one of the most powerful, and relatable books I've ever read. When I first picked it up, I was fooled by the cover and assumed it would be a light, fluffy read. As the story progressed, however, themes of parental infidelity, body shaming, and sexual assault arose, which was difficult to grapple with. Yang skillfully describes the emotions and situations that come with sexual assaultharassment in a way that felt very real. At times, it was hard to keep reading because the content was so relatable. All the characters, especially Claire and Zach, made morally gray decisions, but I still felt compelled to root for them to come out stronger from their challenging experiences. For these reasons, Parachutes has a special place in my heart as one of my favorite books of all time.
