I have to admit, I tried reading this a few years ago and I couldn't get past the first chapter. It starts off extremely slow. But a few months ago, I decided to read it again. I'll read one chapter at night before I go to bed. This way, I can fall asleep faster, and I'll read a reportedly good series as well. Reading the first few chapters was hard, but soon there was some action and it got interesting. I would not recommend skipping these chapters, as they contain some useful information. But you should definitely read this book and the rest in the series, as it is a classic and is full of interesting characters.
