I loved the book and indeed loved the series. Deborah Ellis, the author, takes the reader on a sensational adventure when the book looks over Parvana and her family's life in Kabul Afghanistan after her father gets taken to jail for high education, in a third-person view. It takes people in a realistic view of a part of how families lived during that time and place, of war in Afghanistan. Also suggested: THE WHOLE SERIES

A story of a girl who dresses up as a boy to earn money for her family and how the Taliban rulers take away most of the freedom of women. Also suggested: Parvana's Journey

I think that this book occurred in a relatable time period. I learned that you have to improvise when bad things happen and try as hard as you can to make the best of what you have.
