City of Beaverton: Historic Photos

Hall Street - Progress

Hall Street - Progress

Sometime during the early 1950s. The intersection in the middle of the photo appears to be the arrow-straight railroad right-of-way crossing Hall Blvd, with Scholls Ferry Rd angling off toward the upper left. The intersection of Scholls Ferry Rd and Hall Blvd lies just past the water tower in the photo. A bus shelter was located east of Hall on the N side of Scholls Ferry well into the 1950s and possibly later. It was white with a prominent painted sign, "Watch Progress."

The large development you are seeing in the center right of the photo is the Sawyer`s View-Master Plant. This photo looks roughly northeast. Going directly across the middle of the photo are the (present-day) WES RR tracks. The View-Master plant is where Cascade Plaza is today. At the very center of the photo is where Hall crosses the RR tracks. In the left foreground is the meandering Fanno Creek.
